This circular explains BIMCO’s GUARDCON contract for the employment of private maritime security contractors on vessels, and sets out the main points members should consider before using security guards.

London P&I notes that the decision to employ armed or unarmed guards remains an operational one for members, but any arrangement must comply with flag state law, applicable local laws and the relevant IMO and Best Management Practices guidance.
