Blue Card - Gas Carriers (5.365)

This circular explains London P&I's position on Blue Cards for gas carriers under the 1992 Civil Liability Convention. It confirms that Blue Cards should not generally be issued to LNG or LPG carriers, because they do not fall within the Convention's definition of a ship unless they meet specific conditions.

London P&I also notes that the practice of issuing Blue Cards for gas carriers should stop with immediate effect, except in limited cases involving older LPG ships that may still fall within the Convention.
