Calcium Hypochlorite (Hydrated) - UN 2880 (5.262)
This circular alerts members to doubts about the stowage advice for calcium hypochlorite (hydrated) under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, following a recent casualty.
London P&I explains that preliminary research suggests the cargo may begin an uncontrolled reaction at a temperature below the 55°C level stated in the code, including in some vessel holds and on deck in direct sunlight.
