Directive 2009/20/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the Insurance of Shipowners for Maritime Claims (Insurance Directive) (5.399)

This circular explains Directive 2009/20/EC, which forms part of the Third EU Maritime Safety Package, and sets out how London P&I and the other International Group clubs will adapt certificates of entry to meet the new requirements.

It confirms the ships in scope, the evidence of insurance expected when entering an EU port or flying a Member State flag, and the timetable for implementation across the EU.
