International Safety Management Code (5.248)

This circular confirms changes to the rules that took effect on 20 February 1998 and highlights London P&I's expectations for compliance with the International Safety Management Code.

It explains the new requirements in Rule 8 for statutory compliance and warns members that recovery may not be available where the relevant requirements have not been fulfilled. It also asks members who may not obtain the required certificates by the due date to contact the Managers without delay.
