Download circular (PDF, 152.2 KB)

This circular updates members on the People’s Republic of China’s regulations on the prevention and control of marine pollution from ships, which were due to take effect on 1 March 2010.

London P&I highlights the broad scope of the Regulations, including pollution discharge and reception, oil spill response, incident reporting, investigation and compensation, and compulsory insurance for certain ships.

The circular also explains the new requirement for some vessels to contract with an MSA-approved local pollution clean-up company before entering a PRC port, and notes that this specific provision may be postponed.
