Revised Himalaya Clause for Bills of Lading and other Contracts (5.415)

London P&I explains a revised Himalaya clause prepared by the International Group of P&I Clubs and BIMCO for use in bills of lading and other contracts. The circular sets out what a Himalaya clause is, why it matters, and the main protections the revised wording is designed to provide for carriers, servants, agents and subcontractors.

It also notes that the clause is mainly intended for bills of lading, may be adapted for other marine contracts with care, and should be reviewed with legal advice where amendments are needed.
