Ian Gooch - Chief Executive
Ian was appointed Chief Executive in 2009. A qualified barrister, he joined Bilbrough in 1991 and worked in and subsequently headed the Company’s Greek Office between 1995-2000. Appointed a Claims Director in 2003, Ian has more recently been responsible for members in the Far East and the US, as well as representing the Club on a number of International Group sub-committees and working groups.
Anthony Jones - Director
Anthony’s wide-ranging responsibilities include corporate administration, personnel, IT and regulatory matters. He joined Bilbrough immediately after gaining his law degree and, apart from three years working outside the P & I industry in the early 1990s, has been with the team ever since. He became a Director in 2000 and is a member of the International Group's Regulatory Affairs, Capital Adequacy and FMC sub-committees.
Iain Paul - Director
Iain is responsible for all accounting, treasury, investment and Club reinsurance affairs and works with Anthony Jones on regulatory matters. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 with PricewaterhouseCoopers and, after a three-year spell working in Bermuda’s insurance and reinsurance industry, joined Bilbrough in 2002. He became a Director in 2008.
Steve Roberts - Director
Steve manages major P&I claims and supervises the claims team, particularly those handling P&I and FD&D matters for the Greek membership. He joined Bilbrough in 1981, working in the Greek office from 1989 to 1993, and became a Director in 2008.
Ian Barr - Director
Before joining Bilbrough in 1997, Ian worked both at sea and in ship management. In addition to his claims role, he is part of the Bilbrough team that produces loss prevention literature, including the StopLoss Bulletin. He became a Director in 2010.
Reto Toggwiler - Director
Reto joined Bilbrough in 1994 and has been involved in underwriting many of the Club’s Far Eastern, Greek and North European members. He became a Director in 2014 and now has overall responsibility for underwriting the Club’s worldwide membership.
Nigel Martin - Associate Director
Nigel has been with Bilbrough since 1984 and underwrites the Club’s Greek members, as well as dealing with business in India, Vietnam and the Far East. He represents the Club on the International Group's Confirmation of Entry sub-committee, and has been an Associate Director since 1998.
Ben McKeith - Senior Underwriter
Ben joined Bilbrough in 2005 having graduated from Loughborough University and underwrites the Club’s Greek, Italian, Turkish and South American members.
Victoria Papageorgiou - Senior Underwriter
Victoria joined the Claims team at Bilbrough in 2006 having previously worked for a prestigious Greek shipowner. From 2007 Victoria continued to handle both P&I and FD&D claims on behalf of the local membership during her time in the Piraeus office. In January 2015 Victoria joined the underwriting department in London and she deals predominantly with members based in Greece, Germany, Singapore and South Korea. Victoria’s first language is English and she is also a Greek native speaker.
Rodney Cook - Underwriter
Rodney joined Bilbrough in 2011 after studying Computer Science at the University of York. He now underwrites members based in the Middle East, India and Greece, with a particular focus on charterer’s liability covers.
Harry Wathen - Underwriter
Harry joined Bilbrough in 2015, after studying Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture at Southampton Solent University. His work in the Underwriting section includes assisting the Club's mutual and CSL charterers' members.
Keith Attwood - Underwriting Assistant
Keith is responsible for ensuring all vessels entered with the Club comply with pollution certification requirements. He also has extensive experience dealing with liner claims and ship inspections and joined Bilbrough in 1974.
Maria Milonas - Secretary
Maria first joined Bilbroughs in 1975. She moved to the Underwriting Department in 2001 and is principally responsible for producing mortgage and war risks documentation.
Catherine Lain - Underwriting Assistant
Catherine has worked in marine insurance for global brokers since 1989, specialising in P&I since 1993. She joined Bilbrough in 2015 and provides support for the Underwriters in all areas with a particular focus on charterer’s liability and fixed premium covers.
Connor Hammond - Underwriting Assistant
Connor joined Bilbrough in April 2017. His work in the Underwriting section includes responsibility for the production of documentation on the owners and charterers, mutual and fixed premium sides of the Club’s business.
Leah Downing - Underwriting Assistant
Leah joined Bilbrough in 2016 having previously worked for a shipowner for nearly 25 years. She works mainly on certification for mutual members and also deals with some charterer’s liability accounts.
Michael D M Hill - Consultant
Mike joined Bilbrough’s in 1978, and became Underwriting Director in 1992. He retired from the Board and became a consultant in March 2014.
Carl Durow - Loss Prevention Manager
Carl joined Bilbrough as Claims Handler in July 2009. He is a Master Mariner with working experience of LPG, LNG, Crude Oil, Deep Water Anchor Handling operations and Offshore Marine Support. A qualified Senior Dynamic Positioning Operator finishing his sea going career on Seismic Survey vessels, Carl holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Maritime Studies.
Anthony Cage - Ship Inspection Co-ordinator
Anthony joined Bilbrough in 2016 after working in UK container exports at a Chinese shipping company for 4 years. His main responsibilities involve arranging pre-load steel surveys and ship inspections, mainly for the Club's Turkish and Greek members.
Konrad Heene - Associate Director
Konrad handles both P&I and FD&D claims primarily on behalf of the Club’s Greek members and spent three years based in the Piraeus office, returning to London in September 2008. He joined Bilbrough in 2003 after working as an in-house lawyer for a Danish shipping group and practising with Holman Fenwick Willan. He read Law in Belgium and England and qualified as an English solicitor in 1999. Konrad speaks Dutch, French and German.
Simon Leslie - Associate Director
Simon manages the claims team handling both P&I and FD&D matters for Members based in the Far East, South East Asia, New York and parts of Europe. Having qualified as a solicitor in 1998, he practised maritime law from qualification at Ince & Co, spending a period of time based in Singapore. Simon joined Bilbrough in 2008.
Garry Stevens - Associate Director
Garry manages the claims team handling both P&I and FD&D matters for Israeli, Italian, Turkish, and UK based members. He began his career at sea in 1971 where he attained the rank of First Officer. He joined Bilbrough in 1996 from another P&I Club, and became an Associate Director in 1998. He is the Club’s representative on the International Group sub-committee for Correspondents and speaks Spanish and French.
Marcus Bucknall - Associate Director/Manager of Claims Services Dept
Marcus joined Bilbrough in 1980 and worked in the Hong Kong office for five years from 1988 - 1993. He became an Associate Director in 2000 with particular responsibility for claims for Members based in the Far East. In 2011, Marcus moved from the Claims Handling Section and assumed new duties as Secretary to the Club’s Committee. Responsibilities include the preparation of the agenda, minutes and the co-ordination of the Committee’s quarterly meetings. He also manages the Claims Services Dept. and coordinates the Manager’s ISO accreditation as well as working closely with the IT department on development projects.
Paul Amos - Senior Claims Manager
Paul joined Bilbrough in October 2012 from another International Group Club and handles P&I claims on behalf of the Club’s Greek members. Paul holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Maritime Studies and has worked both at sea and in ship management.
Rachel Bellsham-Revell - Senior Claims Manager
Rachel uses her experience of working in both Greece and Denmark to help in her day-to-day job handling both P&I and FD&D claims, primarily on behalf of the Club’s Greek members. She joined Bilbrough in 2005 having qualified as a solicitor in 1998 with Norton Rose. She is a French speaker.
Paul Bixley - Senior Claims Manager
Paul uses his experience of seven years in the Hong Kong office in his current role dealing with claims concerning the Far Eastern, Indian, Norwegian and German membership. He also works with many of the Greek members and has broad experience of P&I and FD&D cases. He is a law graduate and joined Bilbrough in 1987.
Ian Carter - Senior Claims Manager
Ian works mainly with North American and Greek members, covering a wide range of claim types. In addition he acts as secretary to the Club’s Claims Review Body. Previously he spent many years working on injury and death claims, mostly in the US. He joined Bilbrough in 1981.
Simon Chapman - Senior Claims Manager
Simon, a graduate in law, joined Bilbrough in 1990. He works primarily with the Club’s Israeli, and London based Greek members, handling all manner of P&I casualties including collision, salvage, general average, dock damage, pollution and cargo claims. He also works on the resolution of FD&D disputes.
Janet Ching - Senior Claims Manager
Janet deals with both P&I and FD&D claims, and is part of the Bilbrough teams on sanctions and News Alerts. Janet read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford, before qualifying as an English solicitor in 2000. She has worked for law firms in the City of London and Shanghai, and International Group Clubs in Oslo and London. She practised maritime law at Holman Fenwick Willan for five years prior to joining Bilbrough in June 2013.
Clare McDowall - Senior Claims Manager
Clare qualified as a solicitor at Holman Fenwick & Willan in 2008 and remained there until 2010. She worked in another International Group P & I Club before joining Bilbrough in June 2012, where she handles a range of FD&D and P&I disputes. She is bilingual in Spanish and English.
Daniel McHarg - Senior Claims Manager
Daniel deals with claims relating to both P&I and FD&D matters, mainly on behalf of the Club’s Greek members. A qualified solicitor, Dan joined Bilbrough in 1999 having practised maritime law with Thomas Cooper & Stibbard.
Philip Skinner - Senior Claims Manager
Philip worked in the Piraeus office from 1985, returning to London in 2007. He handles P&I and FD&D claims for the Club’s Greek members. He joined Bilbrough in 1975, initially in the underwriting team.
John Warman - Senior Claims Manager
John handles a variety of P&I and FD&D claims on behalf of the Club’s Greek members. He Joined Bilbroughs in London in 1993, having served as a deck officer in the British Merchant Navy for 12 years and graduated with an environmental science degree.
Tiandu (Deborah) Yu - Senior Claims Manager
Deborah deals with both P&I and FD&D claims on behalf of the Far Eastern membership. She qualified as a lawyer in the People’s Republic of China in 1998 and practised law there prior to joining Bilbrough in 2007. She is a Mandarin speaker.
Karis Barton - Senior Claims Manager
Karis, a law graduate, completed her training contract at Holman Fenwick Willan LLP and qualified as a solicitor in 2011, specialising in international commercial dispute resolution and litigation, focusing mainly on dry shipping matters. After 6 years at Holman Fenwick Willan, Karis joined Bilbrough in September 2015. She deals with both FD&D and P&I claims, focusing particularly on FD&D matters for the Club’s charterer members. Karis is a Spanish speaker.
Claire Boddy - Senior Claims Manager
Claire handles a range of P&I and FD&D disputes primarily for the club’s Greek membership. Claire spent 7 years with Ince & Co in their London office focussing on the firm’s shipping and energy practices. She continued her legal maritime career by joining a P&I club working predominantly for European shipowners and then with the club’s offshore members. Following a period working in-house for a Danish ship owner, Claire joined Bilbrough in 2015.
Pinar Demirel-Batur - Claims Manager
Pinar, an international law graduate, completed her training contract in a London City law firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2013, specialising in shipping litigation. Pinar joined The London Club in 2015. She handles range of P&I and FD&D matters for the club’s Turkish members. Pinar is bilingual in Turkish and English.
Guy Ingham - Claims Manager
Guy started his career at Bilbrough in 2010 and works mainly with Greek and North American members. He handles a wide variety of P&I matters and also deals with FD&D disputes.
Victoria Dyson - Claims Manager
Victoria joined Bilbrough in 2010, she handles P&I Claims for Bulk and Container Members. Before joining Bilbrough, Victoria was European Claims Handler at Hyundai Merchant Marine (European Headquarters), specialising in cargo related claims and prior to that, spent 6 years working as a Claims Handler for Freight Forwarder, JF Hillebrand.
Reine Gomis - Claims Manager
Reine studied Law in Paris. She joined Bilbrough in 2009 and works on a range of P & I cases on behalf of the Club’s members. She speaks fluent French.
Sintija Sona - Claims Manager
Sintija handles P&I claims with a particular focus on handling personal injury matters for Club’s members, she joined Bilbrough in 2015 as a Ship Inspection Co-ordinator. Sintija studied Economics and Commercial Diplomacy in Riga and did her MBA studies in Strasbourg, before joining the Club she worked in broking and London insurance market research. She speaks French, Latvian and Russian.
Sofia Syreloglou - Claims Manager
Sofia handles P&I and FD&D claims for the Club's Greek Members. She qualified as a lawyer in Greece in 2014 and practised law there before gaining her Masters in Maritime Law at Southhampton University. Before joining Bilbrough in 2017, she worked as a research assistant for the Institute of Maritime law in Southampton.
Alex Tsakonas - Claims Manager
Alex studied law in Greece and obtained a Masters in International Shipping Law from Queen Mary University London. Before joining Bilbrough in 2017, he qualified as a lawyer in Piraeus and worked for a Greek Owner. Alex handles P&I and FD&D claims on behalf of the Club’s Greek membership.
Edward Waite - Claims Manager
Edward worked in Japan in the maritime industry for a number of years before returning to England and working for an International Group P&I Club. Subsequently he trained as solicitor at the niche maritime law practice before joining HFW in 2008. While at HFW he was seconded for one year to another P&I Club where he handled FD&D cases. Edward joined Bilbrough's in June 2017 and handles a range of P&I and FD&D disputes primarily for the club's Greek membership.
Jill Watts - Claims Manager
Jill principally works with the Personal Injury department, primarily dealing with US asbestosis cases and, more recently, general aspects of crew claims. She joined Bilbrough in 1978 as a junior Underwriting Clerk, before joining the Credit Control department where she worked between 1988 and 1994.
Joanna Pavlidis - Associate Director and General Manager
Having worked at a shipping firm, Joanna joined Bilbrough in 1997 and moved to Piraeus in August 2000. She became General Manager of the Piraeus office in 2005. Joanna handles a variety of P&I and FD&D claims. Joanna speaks Greek and French.
Ioanna Exadaktylou - Senior Claims Manager
After reading Law and Politics at University, Ioanna gained a Masters of Maritime Law in the UK. During this time, she had some experience with another P&I club. Ioanna joined the Club in 2008 and handles both P&I and FD&D claims predominantly on behalf of the Club’s Greek members. Ioanna speaks Greek, English and French.
Fay Lampropoulou - Senior Claims Manager
Fay studied Law at the University of Athens, before gaining a Masters in Maritime Law in the UK. She qualified as a lawyer in Greece and she is member of the Athens Bar Association. Having started her career at a shipping firm in Piraeus, she joined Bilbrough in 2012. She handles both P&I and FD&D claims, primarily on behalf of the Club’s Greek members. She speaks Greek, French and Spanish.
Mira Milouseva - Claims Manager
A qualified solicitor, joined the Club in 2014 after practising maritime law in an English law form for six years. Handles both P&I and FD&D matters on behalf of Greek Members. Trilingual in English, Greek and Bulgarian; also speaks Russian and French.
Despina Malaxianaki - Claims Manager
A Greek lawyer, joined the Club in 2014 having spent 20 years as an in-house Counsel for a Greek shipowning company. Handles P&I and FD&D matters. Speaks Greek, French and Spanish.
Athina Sirimi - Senior Marketing Executive
Athina graduated from the University of Piraeus before gaining a Masters in International Transport in the UK. She started her career in a shipping company in Piraeus handing insurance and claims, and then worked for a short time at a broking firm. In 2002 she joined another International Group Club, working in Underwriting. She joined Bilbrough in December 2012
Andreas Vrontakis - Claims Manager
Andreas studied Law and gained a Masters in Commercial & Maritime Law in the UK. He is a qualified lawyer in Greece and he started his career in shipping by joining a Greek shipping company in 2007 where he remained for several years before working for a German shipping company in Hamburg. He joined Bilbrough in mid 2016. He handles both P&I and FD&D claims on behalf of Greek Members.
John Williams - Associate Director and General Manager
John, a qualified barrister, has been in his current role since 1994, where he is responsible for co-ordinating claims handling for Far East members. The Hong Kong office also assists all members whose ships encounter problems in the region, particularly mainland China. John joined Bilbrough in 1977 and was posted to Hong Kong in 1980. He became an Associate Director in 1998.
Frank He - Deputy General Manager
Frank joined Bilbrough 2013 and became a Deputy Head of the Hong Kong office in 2017. He graduated from Dalian Maritime University in 2006 and obtained the Master Degree in Maritime Law in Southampton in 2012. Before joining the Club, Frank used to work as a marine underwriter in Shanghai, and following this as a claims manager for one shipping company in Singapore. Frank is currently responsible for marketing the Club in a number of countries and areas in the Far East as well as underwriting and claims management of the Club’s Hong Kong office. Apart from his broad experiences in the fields of P&I underwriting and casualty claims, his current work also explores prospects of the Club to offer extensions of standard cover and specialist operations once owners, charterers, traders and operators are engaged in different shipping sectors, including the offshore area.
Minyi Wu - Senior Claims Manager
Minyi joined Bilbrough in 2009 dealing with both P&I and FD&D claims on behalf of the Far Eastern membership. She graduated from Shanghai Maritime University and has obtained a UK LLB and LLM degree from Southampton University. She qualified as a lawyer in the People’s Republic of China. Prior to joining Bilbrough, she practised law with an international shipping law firm in London. She speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese.
Nick Lin - Senior Claims Manager
Nick joined Bilbrough in 2012, handling both P&I and FD&D matters. He is a graduate of Dalian Maritime University and he also holds a Master of Laws Degree in Maritime Law from Southampton University as well as a Master of Laws Degree in International Economic Law from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining Bilbrough, Nick worked for a Hong Kong insurance broker as assistant manager of claims department and subsequently practised law with an international shipping law firm in Hong Kong. He is a Mandarin speaker.
Queenie Choi - Claims Manager
Queenie joined Bilbrough in February 2015 handling principally P&I matters with special emphasis on crew and shore worker claims. She graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a BBA degree in International Shipping and Transport Logistics. Prior to joining Bilbrough, Queenie worked in the claims/operations departments of several shipowning companies in Hong Kong and for a marine insurance broker also in Hong Kong. She speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin.
Derek Shum - Claims Manager
Derek joined Bilbrough in October 2015, after gaining his Law LLB degree from the University of Birmingham. He handles both P&I and FD&D matters on behalf of the Far Eastern membership. He speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin.
Jim Chan - Claims Manager
Jim joined Bilbrough in January 2016 from another IG P&I Club, dealing with both P&I and FD&D matters on behalf of the Far Eastern Membership. He obtained his Bachelor degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and is now pursuing a LLM degree in Maritime and Transportation law at the City University of Hong Kong under full scholarship. He speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin.
Katie Lilley - Claims Manager
Katie joined the Hong Kong office of the Club in May 2016. She is a qualified England & Wales solicitor, and previously worked for Holman Fenwick Willan in London, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Katie handles both FD&D and P&I files, primarily on behalf of the Club’s Far Eastern membership.
Kitson Fung - Underwriter
Kitson joined Bilbrough in January 2017 and underwrites members based in Asia. He graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a BBA degree in International Shipping and Transport Logistics. Prior to joining Bilbrough, Kitson worked in the several marine insurance broking firms in Hong Kong. He speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin.
Raymond Chan - Consultant
Raymond handles a broad range of claims with emphasis on collisions, fixed and floating objects and pollution. Prior to joining Bilbrough in 1977 he worked for a Hong Kong shipowner and subsequently spent four years with a firm of P&I correspondents in Vancouver from 1989 before returning to Bilbrough. He is a Cantonese and Mandarin speaker. He retired and became a consultant in November 2015.
