This Privacy Notice is issued by The London P&I Club* (the "Club", collectively referred to as "we", "our", "us") in order to help you understand how we may use personal information collected when you visit our website. It does not apply to, and we are not responsible for, any third party websites which may be accessible through links from this website.
What information do we collect and what do we store?
When you access certain parts of our website we shall collect and hold basic personal information such as your name, your company name, your email address, telephone number and fleet number. We may also collect information about which parts of the website you have used.
How we use information and data about you
Personal information obtained from this website will be retained in a database and used by us where we have a legitimate interest for doing so, such as:
- Providing and administering a contract of insurance or reinsurance
- Administering our contractual relationship with you, providing services, and responding to enquiries
- Meeting legal or other regulatory obligations imposed on us
We may also use personal information collected from this site to send you details of new services, legal updates, and invitations to seminars and events, however, we will only do this where you have provided consent. You may subsequently withdraw your consent to receiving promotional material from us at any time by emailing [email protected] or by selecting "unsubscribe" in any electronic marketing communications we send you.
When you visit our website for the first time we will request consent to send a ‘cookie’ to your computer to help us analyse website usage, and improve functionality or tailor information we provide to visitors. We will not use your personal data to undertake automated decision-making or profiling. Neither will we sell your personal data.

How we share and transfer your personal data
We may share and/or disclose your personal data between our offices in Cyprus, Greece and Hong Kong as well as to third party suppliers or service providers such as surveyors, lawyers, correspondents and loss adjusters, in order to conduct the legitimate business of the Club or its members and assureds. We shall not share your details for marketing purposes outside the Club and its Managers.
We have contracts in place with our subsidiaries, their Managers and all regular third party data processors where they agree to handle personal data in compliance with relevant data protection regulations. They will hold your personal data and information securely and not share it with any other organisation unless they meet the required standards for handling data or there is a lawful reason for doing so.
Given the international nature of our business your personal data may be transferred to another controller or processor situated in another country, including countries outside of the EU/EEA, for further processing, use or storage. This does not diminish your rights; the Club will take all reasonable steps necessary to ensure transferred information is kept secure as required by applicable data privacy laws.
How long will we retain your data?
We shall hold any data necessary for contractual, legal or regulatory reasons for as long as necessary to meet the terms of the contract or to comply with the legal or regulatory requirements. If you have only provided contact details for the purposes of receiving newsletters or other information about the Club or its activities, and have no contractual relationship with the Club, we shall retain your data until you tell us you no longer wish to receive such material.
Security
We are committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of the information and personal data that you provide to us, and we have put in place appropriate technical, physical and organisational security measures to protect against any unauthorised access to, damage, or disclosure or loss of, your data.
You will be required to create an account with a password on your initial visit to the Members’ area of the website, ensuring you have a unique identification and a private password. You will also be asked to consent to collection of personal data at this point. We also provide encryption services to seek to ensure all information you transmit across the Internet is protected from being viewed by any unauthorised third party.
The website is hosted within a secure infrastructure to ensure additional protection is provided from unauthorised third party sources. Please note, however, that we cannot be responsible for security issues generated by the equipment you use to access the website and services therein, or certain circumstances beyond our control such as hack attacks, denial of service attacks, the effect of viruses or other harmful or malicious programs, or vandalism of services.

- Right to make a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office
- Right to claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the GDPR
