Indonesia - Nickel Ore Exports Banned

As Members may already be aware from our previous News Alert (click here), a ban on nickel ore exports from Indonesia was planned to be re-implemented in January 2020. Members should note that the ban has been brought forward with immediate effect. As reported widely in the international press, the measures are in response to a rush of exports to try to beat the January 2020 deadline: the nickel miners association and government have jointly agreed to halt exports immediately.
